Walking Netball is a fun, accessible, and inclusive version of netball, designed for all fitness levels and abilities. Below are the key modifications to the traditional game, ensuring safety and enjoyment for everyone.
No Running
Players must walk at all times, maintaining one foot on the ground.
Umpires will call “breaking” if a player runs or jogs.
Shorter Time
Match duration is reduced, with shorter quarters to prioritise participant well-being.
Stepping Rule Modified
Players can take an extra step after receiving the ball for balance before they pass.
No Jumping
Jumping to catch or block the ball is not permitted.
Players must keep one foot on the ground when intercepting or defending.
4-Second Rule
Players have up to 4 seconds to release the ball instead of the usual 3 seconds.
This ensures players have enough time to safely pass or shoot.
Interceptions with Care
Players may intercept the ball, but contact and physical challenges are not allowed.
Umpires encourage lighthearted play and enforce no-contact strictly.
Rolling Substitutions
Players can substitute on and off at any time, ensuring everyone can participate at their own pace.
